Oliver morris
23 years old Oliver Morris is a skilled photographer with expertise in double exposure photographs. His works are layered in a way that make them feel natural and his photos never feel out of place, by any means. Morris is excellent at creating a relationship between the two photos that make for one intriguing story. The simplicity of these photos really bring them alive. It works so well, the compositions are great and the anonymous figures bring about mystery. They remind me of ghostly figures found in photos like horror films. The concept is really interesting with the intricate layering of both images. |
Meaning
My subjects are usually people within a landscape using double exposures to make them almost blend in with the surroundings. I want to keep people interested with my images and I like to feel with this particular technique there is a number of different parts to the image rather just a simple picture.
"My subjects are usually people within a landscape," Oliver Morris said.
"[I use] double exposures to make them almost blend in with the surroundings."
It looks like the background is a sky during a sunset. It is made to seem like a painting with the mix of different colours. The main focus here is the person and the background might represent his thoughts and the black might mean that he is going through some problems and it might be affecting him as a person. The texture of the background is rough implying that he is going through a rough time.Purpose of this double exposer is to get people in touch with nature.Maybe because in an urban environment not a lot of people enjoy nature like they used to before.

Stephanie Jung
Here’s a beautiful set of images from German photographer Stephanie Jung. They are multiple exposures of four Japanese cities – Tokyo, Osaka, Shibuya and Nara. If you were to just glance at them, you might think they are sketches. Each frame captures so much movement. And in my opinion, these urban scenes are very appropriate for the process. I couldn’t find any technical information, but I’m a big fan of the resulting images. |

This was inspired by Oliver Morris's work however instead of using nature I used urban environment.
Firstly I got a portrait and used a pen tool to isolate it from the background and I made a layer mask of that. Then I used a gray background and I layered it with a picture of London eye then I changed the level 1 so picture only had the outline of the person and rest was black. Then I added that into the layering layer 1 so the image will take the shape of the person's outline.then I took another picture of the London eye and used it as a background. |
I wanted to give the portrait life by using lights from the pictures however I wanted the background to be on a normal street in Greenwich so all the attention was drawn to the portrait. For this, I decided to use both of the artists I used many different layers from the city to give the portrait its colour.
