His project: “Small World” discovers globalization and tourism all around the world and from his work I can see a lot of cynicism and negativity from his standpoint.
A lot of Parr’s work also revolves around capitalism, materialism, and cultural values
His work is humorous , colourful and unique in its own way which manages to make a statement about society in a powerful way. His work is very delicate and tends to focus on the small detail we tend to ignore while doing this he gets close to his subject which helps the viewer feel close to the subject too.
From his photographs I can see that he has thought carefully about the photography elements. He uses a small aperture and a fast shutter speed so he can capture the image without anything getting in the way and to avoid over-exposure so he can use the natural light which makes the images more complete as they have shadows and helps the viewer feel like they are in the picture.
Unlike most of the photographers these days Parr's work is unplanned and not photo-shopped which give it a unique feel. He shows the reality of things that most photographers tend to avoid so they can capture the best picture. I really love the fact that he takes pictures of something people wouldn’t usually think of taking pictures of and changes it into something beautiful. His images are beautiful because they tend to focus on the reality of how people live and instead of editing it he shows the raw form.
