Like “Korea: The Presentation of Self“, it was a social critique of Koreans, consumerism, and identity. He tries to tell the truth about Koreans and how they are "superficial" about the brand-named clothes,fancy bags, and luxury cars. He is trying to say that trying to be who seen as being "successful" by buying expensive things isn't worth it when someone is in debt. The message might make some people angry which adds to the mood of the image.
His images have really high contrast creating a mysterious and scary atmosphere for the photographs.
It also seems to focus on people and their emotions which helps the viewer feel what the model is feeling.
